Interview with Leticia Sala
"There are moments of true quality time, and others that aren’t as perfect, but what matters to me is that these moments exist, and that the meaningful ones outweigh the rest."
My name is Leticia, and I’m a writer. I have a daughter named Cleo, who is three and a half years old. I have published three books, the latest one being Los Cisnes de Macy's. I also write a weekly newsletter called Magical Thinkinghere I share personal essays on motherhood, friendship, love, and more. Additionally, I do commissioned writing for brands and write song lyrics for artists.
What is your day-to-day life like as a family?
Our routine starts with breakfast. I like to wake up before everyone else and take advantage of the silence and the dim morning light to get some work done and prepare breakfast. When Cleo wakes up, we have breakfast together, get ready, and head to school. I love picking her up and using the afternoon to run errands together, meet up with someone, or just stay home and play. In the evening, the three of us have dinner together, read stories, take a bath, and then go to bed.
How do you reconcile your professional life with your family routine? How do you find quality time with them?
I try to keep my schedule in line with hers, working while she's at school and spending the afternoons with her. This isn't always possible when I have work commitments or travel, but most days follow this rhythm. There are moments of real quality, and others that aren't perfect, but what matters to me is that these moments exist, and that the most meaningful ones take precedence.

Describe an activity that you enjoy doing with your family at home. What's your favourite way to have fun at home?
My daughter loves playing with Lego with her father. As for us, we spend most of our time reading stories and inventing new ones together.
How would you describe your interior design style?
I'd say my style is a mix of modern and classic furniture. I also like to incorporate colour and books - my daughter is already building her first bookcase! Lately we've also been going through a phase where we love stainless steel.
How would you describe your family adventure? In one word or a short sentence.
Short. Our family adventure is getting easier and more fun every day.

What are your three favourite places in Barcelona to share with your little one?
I love taking my daughter to CosmoCaixa. I feel like we're both learning something new, and everything is designed with children in mind: nothing is off-limits, everything is within their reach. When we go out for a bite to eat, we usually take her to places that we like ourselves, because we like the idea of her adapting to our plans and learning to enjoy herself in those surroundings, even in the evenings (without staying out too late, of course). We've noticed that she enjoys socialising, both with our friends and her own. One place we all love is the Mantequería Pirenaica, where we have a slice of tortilla and a Catalan Vichy. We also like to take her to the local market, where she can familiarise herself with the fresh produce, find out about the shopping process and ask questions.
