Interview with Giorgia Righetti and Teddy Iborra in Les Eines
"To be honest, my partner Teddy and I are very much in sync. We move at the same pace and we're in the same boat. We're both independent and run our own businesses, so we understand and support each other a hundred percent."
My name is Giorgia. I'm an interior architect and designer of made-to-measure furniture. I've been running my own business for 11 years, my first baby, Les Eines! Les Eines is a project that combines an interior design and made-to-measure furniture studio with a furniture shop, where I personally select each piece. It's a mix of iconic brands, vintage finds and my own creations. But that's not all: we also work on art direction for other brands and offer furniture rental services.
When are you expecting and what will your baby's name be?
I'm currently in the seventh month of my first pregnancy. It's a boy and he's going to be called Brando. He's due in June, around the summer solstice, one of my favourite times of the year.
What's your daily routine? Tell us about your typical day.
My routine isn't really a routine, let's say. My work is very dynamic and I'm involved in a lot of different projects, as I mentioned.
This week, for example, I was art director for a creative campaign for coffee machine's brand, organising and directing a photo shoot. Next week, I'll be working on furniture design. I'm preparing a stand for a trade show for another brand.
I love that my work is constantly changing, while remaining focused on the beauty of decorative objects and furniture.
Every day I go to my showroom/studio, Les Eines, on Carrer Bailèn 12 in Barcelona. There I look after both the physical shop and the online shop, do the photography, create content for the social networks and manage custom orders for customers.
I spend most of my time designing and making bespoke marble tables and hunting out beautiful pieces.
It's a wonderful and very rewarding profession.

How do you reconcile your professional life with family routines?
To be honest, my partner Teddy and I are very much in sync. We move at the same pace and we're in the same boat. We're both independent and run our own businesses, so we understand and support each other a hundred percent.
Sometimes we don't really have a schedule because of tight deadlines, but we love what we do and we feel very lucky. So, when Brando arrives, I always imagine my studio as a warm and fun space for him, where he can be with me while I work.
Tell us about an activity you enjoy doing at home: what's your favourite way of spending quality time together at home?
What we love most at the moment is decorating our flat. We only moved in a month ago and we love looking for pieces, putting furniture together, painting, planning lighting, hanging art and so on. We really enjoy weekends working on our new home.
We've also started preparing the baby's room. We've already installed the first Nobodinoz furniture and it's taking shape!
I love this process of designing our home, and I realise that I don't get out with my friends much these days because, honestly, we have the best time right here at home.
How would you describe your taste in interior design?
I really like the clean lines, light proportions and neutral tones: white, off-white and black. I'm drawn to the 90s aesthetic, but without too much staging.
I'm not a fan of too many colours or mixed materials, and more and more I appreciate empty spaces.
I love antiques, especially Italian antiques. I always try to include at least one vintage piece in every space I design or decorate.
How do you imagine your family adventure?
It's hard to say, as we haven't yet taken on the role of parents, but we still see it as a lot of fun.
We know that Brando will bring a lot of joy into our lives, a lot of laughter and love.

Tell us about your favourite places in Barcelona that you would like to share with Brando:
Teddy said without hesitation: Camp Nou! He's very excited about the prospect of one day taking his son to see his favourite team play in his favourite stadium.
As for me, my favourite places in Barcelona are family-related. The first is my parents' restaurant, which I want Brando to know about so that he can connect with our Italian roots.
And then there's his paternal grandparents' house in Alella, a place full of nature, animals, a vegetable garden and a play area with a little tree house.
It really is a magical place to grow up!
