Interview with Anne-Sophie
This Nobodinoz Talks takes us to Bordeaux, where light, authenticity and a sensitive eye for meaningful interiors come together through the vision of Anne-Sophie, founder of Inside Closet. A storyteller of spaces and the lives that unfold within them, she opens the doors to her world of creativity, family warmth and everyday inspirations that nourish the way we live.
My name is Anne-Sophie, I'm 40 years old, I am the founder of the media Inside Closet and the happy mother of Emma, 9, and James, 3. The four of us live with my husband in a house near Bordeaux, between the city and the countryside.
What was your path to the world of interior design and lifestyle?
I created Inside Closet a little over 10 years ago, after several years of experience as a stylist in ready-to-wear.
As far back as I can remember, I have always loved the objects and interiors that surrounded me. I drew a lot as a child and at 10 I already dreamed of being a Designer.
I finally oriented myself towards fashion, and that was the key to entering this media, hence its name: Inside Closet.
The original idea was to unveil the interiors of Parisian women, starting with their dressing rooms. To transcribe everything that makes them unique, both through their style, but also their decor, their personal objects, their memories.
Then, as the years passed, my eye was increasingly drawn to volumes, architecture, and decoration.

Inside Closet highlights very personal interiors. What made you want to explore the lives of others?
My curiosity first, then that of others! I myself was addicted to many sites or blogs that revealed, in their own way, artists' studios, designers' homes, or fashion designers' apartments.
My desire was to meet, to inspire, and to create a real community around this idea.

How would you define your own sensitivity to interior architecture?
I'm a real sponge! I don't believe I'm faithful to a single era or a single style. I draw inspiration everywhere and with each visit I discover an interesting idea or an object that I would happily transpose to my home.
I believe that what moves and motivates me are interiors that truly resemble those who live in them. But despite everything, I am more sensitive to contemporary lines and volumes than to a Haussmannian apartment or a country house.
As a brand, we always think about how families will love and adopt our furniture or objects. Do you keep objects or furniture as if they were treasures from your childhood?
I kept the same rattan furniture in my room throughout my childhood. Truly from when I was very little until my adolescence. Furniture that I cherished and that I instantly see again in front of me if I close my eyes. I remember that around the age of 9/10 my mother took advantage of a week at summer camp to repaint all the furniture from pink to straw yellow.
I loved this surprise, and the idea of having a brand new room without ultimately changing everything. I haven't kept this furniture for my children, but it's very comforting to think back on it today.

Inside Closet takes you into very different worlds. What have you learnt from the families you meet about the way they live?
Let's say I'm just passing through, but it's true that for a few hours I still enter into their intimacy, or at least what they wish to show.
I love observing their way of communicating, organizing themselves, and simply living together. I always leave with cool little ideas to apply at home: a board game I didn't know, a cooking recipe, a trick to save a little time in daily life!
Each family has its system, its habits, but what I find almost everywhere is that regardless of the size of the children's bedrooms, they always end up playing, drawing, or doing their homework in the kitchen or on the living room table!

What is the moment or ritual at your place that brings everyone together and feels good?
Dinner time. During the week or on the weekend, it's THE moment when we are truly together, settled, ready to talk and share.
And also that little suspended moment between the meal and bedtime: very often we find ourselves tidying up and clearing the table while watching them dance in the middle of the living room or clowning around to make us laugh!
If you had to summarize your family adventure in one word or phrase, what would it be?
Lumière (Luz). Esa es la palabra que me viene a la mente cuando pienso en la familia que me crió y en la que nosotros estamos construyendo a nuestra vez. Tanto por el camino que intentamos iluminar para ellos cada día como, sobre todo, por la calidez y la energía que irradian cada una de sus carcajadas, sus caricias, sus palabras dulces. Sea cual sea nuestro estado de ánimo, nuestros problemas o nuestras preocupaciones, la luz que aportan a nuestra vida diaria suaviza todo al instante.

And finally, do you have any favorite addresses, decor, restaurants, shops, inspiring places, that you like to frequent?
