Interview with Sofie Ken

This new Nobodinoz Talks takes us to Copenhagen once again, where color, creativity, and a joyful sense of style come together through the eyes of fashion designer and content creator, @kensofie.

«Hi, I'm Sofie, I'm a fashion designer and I also work in social media, both for myself and for other brands. We feel incredibly lucky, as our little family will be growing in November with the arrival of a baby!»

What does your daily routine look like? Give us a general idea of your day-to-day and how you balance work with leisure and future maternity.

No two days look the same, which is how I like it. I run Tour-Lava, a brand I co-founded with my partner Kathrine, and I also handle social media for a few different brands while working part-time in-store for one of them. Some days are all about design or content, others I'm on the floor or behind the camera. I try to keep a balance: getting things done without pushing too hard. Pregnancy has added a new layer, but I’m not in full prep mode yet, I’m just going with the flow and taking things as they come.

As a creative person, how would you define the style of your home?

As a creative person, my home is colourful and playful, mixing vintage and modern pieces, just like my style. It's a relaxed space with a touch of daring, and that's exactly why I'm a big fan of Nobodinoz.

Your eye for vintage pieces is unmistakable, how do you find these treasures? Both in fashion and furniture.

I usually find vintage treasures while traveling, and I have pieces passed down from my boyfriend’s grandmom and my grandmom. They add a special, personal touch, both in fashion and furniture.

What do you prioritize when decorating your kid’s room? What does a furniture brand need to have in order to win you over?

When it comes to my kid’s room, I want things that are cute and fun but also good quality. I really like brands that bring a little personality with great fabrics, like Nobodinoz. I’ve even got my friends wanting everything from them after I showed them the brand!

As a brand founder and fashion enthusiast, we have to ask: what advice would you give to someone trying to find their own style?

My advice? Find what feels right for you, not just what’s trending. Mix vintage with new, and don’t be afraid to break the rules. Style is personal, make it yours :)

What does your home mean to you?

It means a lot. I spend loads of time at home, because of work but also because I just love being there. It’s where I feel calm and happy, so I like to make it interesting and creative. I want people to walk in and get excited, not bored. I enjoy experimenting with my home the same way I do with my style.

What role play colors and patterns in your style, both when dressing and decorating?

They’re really important. Colors and patterns make everything more interesting and bring life to a space or outfit. Stripes are a classic, I use them everywhere, whether it’s in the kids’ room or the living room.

We know that you also have ties with Barcelona. Could you tell us a bit about that and how the two cities complement each other?

I’ve been to Barcelona a lot because my dad loves FC Barcelona, so I’ve gone with him, friends, and my boyfriend. My boyfriend’s really into padel, which is huge there, so it’s cool sharing that connection with both of them. I love how creative Barcelona is, kind of like Copenhagen, and both cities inspire me in their own way.

Tell us your favorite hotspots in Copenhagen, for example, a café, a bakery, a bookstore, a concept store, and a place you would love to go to with your upcoming baby.

Copenhagen is full of great places, so it's hard to choose. I love the food at Aurens Deli, and I'll definitely be taking the baby there. What I love most of all is walking around Frederiksberg, it's my home and there's always something new to discover. Honestly, I love everything about this city and I can't wait to rediscover it in a new way with the baby.
