Interview with Laura Isaaz
Laura is 37 years old. She is an author and is currently renovating a large house in Biarritz, where she lives on site with her husband, their three children, and two dogs. Vertiginous, yet deeply true to who they are.
For her, decorating a house and writing a story are the same thing: a way of expressing herself, of creating a place where one feels completely at ease. “A place where I’m not afraid to let intimacy unfold.”

Welcome to the Nobodinoz community, Laura! Could you introduce yourself and your family?
I’m 37 years old, I’m a writer, and I live in Biarritz with my husband, my daughter, one of his sons, and the one we had together. Romy is 14, Lenny is 17, and Orso is 2. We also have two dogs, Claude and Thug.
You are currently renovating a large house in Biarritz. Could you tell us how this process has been and what you wanted to create?
We completely fell in love with this house, so we decided to go for it, but it was overwhelming because everything had to be redone. It’s a project that means a lot to us because we can create something that reflects who we are, but it’s been a real daily challenge for several months since we are living there during the renovation.

As a writer, you build powerful narratives through the project Les Murs. What is the overall story or emotion you aim to convey when creating a home space?
I see a real parallel between writing and interior design. In both cases, it’s a way for me to express myself and create a place where I feel completely safe, a space where I’m not afraid to embrace intimacy.
What advice would you give to someone trying to find their interior design style?
Listen to what resonates positively with you, without necessarily following trends, but by feeling what moves you, what soothes you, and what reassures you.

Nature and landscape play an essential role in your home. How do these elements inspire you?
These elements are indeed very important to me. I lived in Paris for years, and when I returned to the Basque Country, I needed nature more than ever. This house we’re renovating is in the city, but we wanted to be surrounded by greenery. I wouldn’t have liked being face-to-face with neighbors through the window, here we’re surrounded by trees and have an open view, as the living space is upstairs.
How would you describe your family’s journey so far? In one word or a short phrase.
Happiness and chaos.
If you had to summarize the philosophy behind your interior design in one word or short expression, what would it be?
Harmony and warmth.

You have selected a few Nobodinoz pieces for your lively home. What attracted you to these products, and how do you incorporate them into your interior style?
I’ve been a big fan of the brand for years, and when Orso was born, I got a lot from Nobodinoz. For his “big boy” room in this new house, I did it again. The bed, the desk, the cushions, the beanbag, everything matches perfectly, and I’ve always loved the natural tones. I chose leopard wallpaper to add depth to the room and make the furniture stand out.
Finally, could you share three of your favorite places in the beautiful French Basque Country?
The vast beaches of Anglet, especially in winter.
